Counselling and Psychotherapy are ways of looking at any personal difficulties
with a therapist so that you have the opportunity to see things differently.
The therapeutic process involves finding and exploring the causes underlying
certain repeated patterns of thought and emotion which lead to unhelpful
or destructive behaviours. The process centres upon the ways you relate
to yourself and others. You can focus on deep-seated personal problems
or more immediate situations. Your problem may be related to anything
in your life - work, home, family, socially, money. The depth of our work
and the length of time you may want will depend on what your problem is
and how much time you are willing to commit to yourself.
Significant events can include: loss or bereavement, divorce, other relationship
difficulties, work-life balance, death, work stress, sexual stresses,
redundancy, forms of abuse, depressive feelings, disillusionment, low
self-esteem, lack of confidence. At times you will feel uncomfortable
as you experience yourself and at times you will feel confident. This
work is not easy and is rewarding if you stick with it.
Before
you make your commitment, I offer an initial appointment followed by one
or two further sessions. If agreed, we will meet thereafter once or twice
weekly for 50 minutes. For the length of time that we meet, we can discuss
this in the first couple of appointments.
To
enquire or make an initial appointment telephone me on my confidential
line: (0113) 262 5783. If I am unavailable to take your call, leave your
name, number and times when I can contact you .
