My professional experience
All my work experiences have contributed to my practice as a therapist.
My therapy work has included working with young people (16-25); students;
individual adults; leading support and personal development groups. |
| Experience and Training My most important experience has been going through the therapeutic process myself e.g. my own personal therapy, attending therapy-style groups, attending personal development and professional workshops and seminars. I began with Co-Counselling Skills (1991)- this is about getting in touch with feelings, behaviours, thoughts and actions. It teaches skills and awreness that help to show a link between thought patterns, feelings and actions. I learnt to work in groups and with groups. Counselling Skills (1992) and Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (1996 - 1998) - provided further skills, an understanding, a personal experience and learning about counselling and the counselling process. Gestalt Psychotherapy Foundation Year (1994) - this gave a deeper and more personal experience of therapy which helps me to help you in a more interactional and person-to-person way. This course also included Groupwork experience from which I have taken learning and skills to use for small support groups. Msc in Psychotherapy (1998 - 2002) - this course provded me with a deeper learning and understanding of human dynamics and how we develop to be the person that we are.
